Android Devices

The Go Smart App for Android can read physical and virtual smartcards. To read a physical smartcard, your device will need to be Android 4.0 or later with Near Field Communications (NFC). NFC options are generally found in ‘settings’ on most devices.

PCs and Laptops

To read physical cards using the Go Smart PC software, you will need a USB connected smartcard reader, installed with an appropriate driver. A selection of suitable readers can be obtained from Smartcard Focus. These readers typically cost around £50 + VAT. To read virtual cards you can use either a handheld QR code scanner or a webcam with the appropriate drivers.

Please note that Windows version 10 or higher is required to read physical and virtual smartcards.
